Gabriele, the prophetess and spiritual ambassador of God for our time, explains this question in the Cosmic School of Life on March 25, 2001:

We should sanctify our life. What actually are “unholy” thoughts? They are unlawful thoughts which are directed against God. Through them we gradually become without conscience and, in the end, even brutal. To sanctify our life more and more means to decide for a spiritual goal, that is, to set a goal in the spirit of the Commandments of God and the Sermon on the Mount of Jesus and to keep it. No matter what the day may bring – in terms of worry, need, but also joy – we should always ask ourselves: Does this fit with my goal? Does this correspond to the Commandments of God and the Sermon on the Mount of Jesus? What about my conscience? Is my conscience active? Or have I become without conscience in certain points, where I brutally disregard something even though I know that I shouldn’t think or do it?

To set up a spiritual goal for ourselves means, in the final analysis, to believe in God, our Father. Today, it is very difficult to believe in God, because everything that goes on in the world is often blamed on God. But instead of asking, “Why won’t God intervene?”, we actually should be asking, “Why don’t we intervene in our life – by asking ourselves what our goal actually is, whether we have developed ethical-moral values, or whether we have simply let ourselves go, accomplishing or doing without conscience what others determine for us?

The person who takes his life into his own hands, that is, who decides for a certain spiritual goal, becomes sensitive. He will always question himself, for example, with: “Is what I am doing, thinking, or speaking the life, or is it unholy? That is, is it against the law of God?

Then we have come around to curbing our speech, to mastering our senses.

When we curb our speech, we also question our thoughts at the same time and put them into order:

When we have a spiritual goal, we will examine and control our thoughts. And the person who has practiced this, to examine and control his world of thoughts, to question them in order to clear up with Christ the unlawful, the unholy, what is against the laws of God, and no longer commits them, because calmer. He will then curb his speech and before he talks he will examine whether it corresponds with his goal, the life.

Based on this ordering of thoughts and curbing of speech, as if automatically, the senses will refine and – through our purer, lighter, more joyful thoughts and conscious words – we will have control and take our senses into hand and direct them accordingly. Through this, we walk towards our goal more and more. Anything else brings confusion to our life on Earth and is to err in the worldly sense.
